How to do an outfit post with Instagram

by Fashion Limbo on February 24, 2012

Challenges, life is full of them. Moving to a new place, finding a job, travelling far from loved ones, even just getting up in the morning with a full-on migraine, when you hardly have 30 minutes to leave the house and cycle to work, in the pouring rain.

However, challenges make us stronger, they polish our character. We become more knowledgeable simply out of practise. In this way, what was a challenge yesterday, today is just part of what you call routine.

My challenge today is doing an outfit post, getting “my mug” out there – challenge number one – using only my dodgy iPhone 3GS and getting help from no one. I’m afraid the little gadget has gone through a lot during these past weeks, but a fashion blogger is a recorder of outfits, so this is just what I do, with my good old mobile.

Mirrors are always helpful when doing a “solo” photoshoot

What do you normally use Instagram for?

As you can see, this is just a casual and simple outfit. As I’m only trying out this nifty app for outfit posts, I decided to go easy on the ensemble, one that allowed for shamelessly lying on the carpet. There you go, first challenge of the day, done. Now to continue with my flat hunt, the challenge of the week.

Oh, this reminds me the beginnings of “fashion blogging”, when everyone didn’t have dslr and just shoot themselves in the mirror or in some dorm room. Back to basics! :)
And I love the outfit, stars rule!

I love it! How clever, I’m addicted to Instagram, almost as much as Pinterest, lol. Love your Adiddas’ and printed tunic.. Sometimes I just use the good ole self timer, because I tend to take snapshots in route to somewhere, but this would be great to do, I just may give it a go soon.

You cycle to work in the London cold?? I am MAJORLY impressed! And I actually really like how only have an armspan gave lots of diff close-up focuses. I usually just do the fullbody & forget to highlight other pieces or just think it doesn’t look good up close. You look adorable though, like the star dress & star shoes, you look darling too : )

I know how hard it is to take photos just using a mirror and camera phone. I think that’s why I only ever did one outfit post then gave up after that.

There seems to be a strong affiliation with the blogging community and the iPhone, not that there is anything wrong with it. I happen to have an Android smartphone and as of yet, Instagram haven’t released the app for that platform. There is, apparently, one coming… don’t know when though.

I love the pictures though, you managed to get some good shots. I also hope you find somewhere for both you and your pooch to leave soon. Keep me updated :-) .

Your sneakers made me smile! What a cute look.

I’m not yet into instagram as I jumped on the tumblr bandwagon only to get burnt out. I’m tring to wait before trying anything new.

Every single day I wish I could just use my iPhone 4s and Instagram for all my blog shots. Dragging the DSLR out (and it needs a new lens) is not only a pain, but I’ve stopped traveling with it altogether. I know some girls love their cameras, but I find them annoyingly bulky and I feel kind of conspicuous whipping it out in public. Sigh.

But see, you can make a post of Insta shots…you did here and they look just fine!
